I knew Dream wanted me on the show, but I didn’t want to go back in training preparation. Then, they offered me a fight against Andrei Arlovski for the Dream heavyweight title. As I have said on occasions, fighting for a belt means something more, and I wanted that Dream title so much that So as a result, I agreed to lay off my media and holiday plans, and went back to training.

I then heard rumors that Dream had booked me in a fight against Ricco Rodriguez. I want to make it very clear that I never verbally agreed to fight him and I never signed a contract with Dream to fight him. I feel very sorry for Ricco Rodriguez’s camp if they still think the fight is on, and I apologize to my fans that have bought a ticket to see me compete. I hope this statement has shed some light on the unfortunate situation.”

青木がケンフロやメレンデス、フランキーエドガーなど他のライト級のトップファイターと違うところは立ち技でのゲームをあまりしないところです。青木はテイクダウンをするのが上手く、特にクリンチからのテイクダウンが得意です。しかし彼のサブミッションの技術にはほとんどついて行ける人はいません。
Where Aoki differs from someone like Florian, Melendez, Frankie Edgar, or other top lightweights is that he doesn’t have a great stand-up game. Aoki has good takedowns, particularly from the clinch, but almost nobody in the sport can match his submission game.

「技術的な面で徹底出来なかったんだ。細かい技術の面が重要になることがあるんだ。100%出し尽くしたかった。勝つために練習してきた。彼を打ちのめしたかったんだ。」
“I was not that pleased about my performance,” St-Pierre stated at the UFC 111 post-fight press conference. “I forgot the technical element of it. Sometimes those technical details make the difference. I wanted to go 100 percent. I trained to break. I want to finish him.

「試合には勝ったよ。でも自分のパフォーマンスを出す事が出来なかった。だから残念なんだ。」

■メイヘムミラーの役目はMTVを見てるティーンエイジャーと20代男性を引っ張り込むことらしいです。

メイヘムは10月いっぱいで終了したMTV木曜夜のショーを見ていたファンにMMAを見てもらうことを望んでいます。その番組は80万世帯で見られていました。再放送を合わせたらもっと視聴者がいるはずです。そのほとんどは10代から20代でCBSTVが土曜日に放送する番組で視聴率のキーとなる世代です。
Miller hopes to bring with him a fan base from his Thursday-night MTV show with an MMA theme that just ended its second season in late October. The show did about 800,000 viewers for the original prime-time showing, and with multiple repeats during the week, the overall viewership was significantly higher, mostly with teenagers and adults in their 20s, a key demographic CBS hopes MMA will bring to its network on Saturday.

MTVは２年前からMMA選手がいじめられっ子を集めてリベンジする番組のホストを探していました。プロデューサーがメイヘムの動画をYOUTUBEで見て、興味をもち彼にオーディションをする事無くホストの役をオファーしました。
MTV was auditioning prospective hosts two years ago for a show where MMA fighters would garner revenge by beating up bullies, when the producers were directed by YouTube videos of Miller. They were so impressed with what they saw that he was offered the job as host without even an audition.

でもメイヘムはファイターも続けていました。最近ではDREAMで見せたハードなダンスが彼を世に知らしめるきっかけになりました。須藤元気や郷野のようなド派手な面をメイヘムが出す事は一見格闘技イベントというよりブロードウェイのミュージカルのように思えますが日本の格闘技イベントでは普通の事なのです。
But Miller remained a fighter, most recently in Japan for the Dream organization where he’s actually better known for his heavily choreographed ring entrances than his fights. Like flamboyant Japanese fighters Genki Sudo and Akihiro Gono, Miller comes out putting on a show, looking like something more you would expect from a Broadway musical than a fight event, but that type of pageantry is popular on Japanese events.
